The existing strategies for taking attendance in academic institutions and general meetings portray some challenges like data alteration, data loss, time consumption, prolonged stress, amongst others. These challenges make the traditional way of taking attendance less reliable and inefficient. However, face recognition can be employed to detect a student, identify the student, and record attendance resulting in a digital and more efficient attendance system.

This project aims to design and implement a face recognition attendance system for the Computer Science Department of Federal University Lokoja that includes a machine learning model, a progressive web application, an embedded system, a database, and some documentation. The FRA System will reduce the inefficiencies in traditional methods of taking attendance, improve attendance management, and provide Lecturers with more management features that will allow them to study, update, sort, and export attendance data.

FRA System is a final year project developed and submitted by Bolaji Ayodeji (SCI/17/CSC/051) in the year 2022 to the Department Of Computer Science, Faculty Of Science, Federal University Lokoja, Kogi State in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the award of the Bachelor Of Science (Honours) degree in Computer Science.
